The great thing about smoothies is that they are substantial so you will never feel like you are on a liquid diet. Most people fall in love with smoothies and drink them daily which will ensure long term weight management.

Smoothies can take away any cravings for fatty, salty foods after just a few weeks. And adding fruits to your smoothies will keep your sweet tooth at bay.

Smoothies can even act as a meal replacement on their own if they contain enough calories. If you are going to replace a meal with a smoothie, make sure the smoothie has at least 10 grams of protein.

Calorie requirements alter from person to person so it’s important to create a smoothie adjusted to your personal needs. A good place to start is around 400 to 500 calories per smoothie.

You have probably seen a fair share of commercial smoothie diets out there but, the truth is, they are not suitable for a lot of people. Many of those smoothies are made with added sugars, preservatives, and a multitude of artificial ingredients that just aren’t healthy. Few contain the natural, wholesome foods that your body needs.

Also, these commercial smoothie diets won’t work in the long term because they were made to be temporary weight loss strategy. Once you return to your normal eating patterns, the weight will come back. On the contrary, natural smoothies and green smoothies made at home will only contain natural, nutritious foods that your body needs. Another plus is that these smoothies will get you accustomed to eating healthier foods which will help you keep the weight off in the long run.

For the ultimate weight-loss smoothie that will leave you satisfied and feeling awake all day, blend some fruits and greens, add a scoop of protein powder, put in some ground flaxseeds and enjoy!
